The Michigan Archival Association invites you to join us at the 2024 Annual Meeting in Detroit. This year’s meeting will be held at Little Caesars Global Resource Center, nestled in the center of Downtown Detroit. Established as a military fort in 1701, Detroit grew past its humble beginnings into a place of industrial progress that earned it the name “Motor City.” With the nationally renowned Detroit Institute of Arts, the multiple James Beard nominated restaurants, and the revitalized downtown, we invite you to explore and enjoy all that Detroit has to offer!
The conference will include professional development and networking opportunities including tours and a reception at the Little Caesars Global Resource Center. This year we're excited to announce that our program features a keynote luncheon on Monday with Ben Blackwell, Chief Archivist at Third Man Records. Blackwell is also co-founder and executive of Third Man Records and a drummer in the Detroit-based rock band The Dirtbombs.
The program committee has an exciting and engaging lineup of programs this year. Sessions on Monday and Tuesday include topics such as project management, true crime, donor relationships, archival consulting, student engagement, and the Digital Archive of Modern Political Propaganda. This year we are also dedicating an entire session to student presentations, and we have a local history session featuring Detroit’s Fox Theatre Collection! Other highlights include a preservation and conservation lecture and demonstration!
